Apply To Be An Artist

You don't need much to succeed with the IMLC...

DIVERSE catalogue

The first step to a successful music licensing career is a healthy and diverse catalogue of royalty-free music. Keep feeding it and it will keep growing!

ROYALTY-FREE MUSIC

The IMLC is a royalty free site. We therefore do not accept tracks that are registered with a PRO, collection agencies such as PRS. Keeping your music royalty-free enables you to take advantage of the ever increasing royalty-free music market by selling non exclusive licenses with companies like the IMLC.

rights ownership

As long as you've created your music independently and own 100% of the rights to the music (songwriter, publishing, and sound recording), then there are no limits to what you can achieve by making it available via the IMLC.

What Can I Do As Part of the IMLC?

One of the collective’s main goals is to bring together the many different ways that independent artists can benefit from the commercial licensing process, all collected in one place.

Crucially, we do this without creating expense for the artist. Although we take a cut of all revenue, it is our policy never to charge artists upfront for the chance to showcase their music, as a number of other licensing services do. We believe all artists should be able to put their music in the shop window without having to pay for the privilege.

Your music is the product of your hard work, and we want to help you benefit from that hard work without having to work twice as hard doing so. As a result of this approach, there are a number of things you can use the IMLC for if you are accepted onto the collective.

Publish Your Music and Collect Royalties

As a Music Publisher, the IMLC can publish your previously released or new music and begin the process of collecting Mechanical Royalties.

Find and Monetize Use of Your Tracks

Through our partner Frequency Digital, we utilise patented audio fingerprinting technology to identify copyright misuse across YouTube and collect advertising revenue for artists.

Submit Tracks to the IMLC Library

The IMLC's commercial royalty free Library is open to artists with significant catalogues. Once your tracks are live in the Library, customers can purchase single track licenses for your music or join the Library as an Annual Member to get unlimited access.

Upload Creative Commons Albums

The IMLC's new Creative Commons site is the perfect place for independent musicians to showcase their work. Your tracks and albums can be released on public licenses to be free for stream and download, and used in creative projects under specific conditions.
